Wireless Electricity and Heat Meters

Electricity, water, gas and heat meters in a building, all can be networked wirelessly and integrated with the Internet of Things (IoT). The consumption data of the heating, electricity or water meter is collected automatically and analyzed. Clear and easy-to-understand monthly reports simplify the evaluation for the end user and the technician alike. End users do not have to be at home for the meter reading and the energy provider has accurate information in real time without requiring a site visit from personnel.

Hardware Development and Software Programming

The collected measurement data of the heating or electricity meter is collected and transmitted wirelessly to a collection point from which the data is further conveyed to the energy supplier's system. The software can be adapted to the respective interfaces used. Thanks to the long battery life of two years and longer, wireless sensors require minimal maintenance.

Wireless sensor technology is ideal for:

  • Commercial or private owners
  • Municipal housing cooperatives
  • Public utilities
  • Utilities
  • Private property management
  • Homeowners

We develop software interfaces for:

  • Enso
  • Energy1
  • One
  • RWE
  • Vonovia
  • innogy
  • EnviaM
  • Drewag
  • Mewag

We also work with additional energy suppliers in Germany and Europe.

At A.N. Solutions, we develop hardware components and create software for wireless sensor modules to support networks. Our highly skilled engineers develop the application programming interfaces (APIs) needed for common building automation software, as well as any necessary drivers for hardware interfaces, such as USB.

Automated Meter Reading of Energy Consumption and Real-Time Transmission

Connected wireless sensors simplify the data reading of electricity, water, gas, and heat meters in homes for service providers, such as Kalorimeta, Ista, Minol Minol-Brunata, and Techem. The service charge settlement for heat and electricity consumption can be fully automated. Networking heat thermostats with room temperature sensors allows for efficient control of heating and the indoor climate. Mold growth can be prevented by using sensors to determine the dew point.

Condition data acquisition can be performed:

  • Monthly
  • Daily
  • Hourly

Examples of Smart Home and IoT Solutions:

  • Data stored in the cloud and available online
  • Smart Home System for the end customer
  • Consumption optimization
  • Automatic control
  • Demand management

The supplied USB dongle is compatible with almost every common operating system (Windows, MacOS, Linux) and provides necessary software drivers.

Development of Modular Battery-Operated Wireless Network Sensors

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technology is based on IEEE802.15.4/ZigBee standards and is perfect for advanced systems measuring energy data in buildings. Self-organizing, self-healing mesh networks enable monitoring and 24/7 control. The power-saving @ANY RF modules and USB dongles, together with firmware for mesh networks, can easily be used to build such wireless networks. This is made possible by the @ANY 802.15.4/ZigBee modules, which combine chipsets, antenna, all necessary circuits and software in one easy-to-integrate module. The industry-leading range of @ANY modules reduces the number of wireless devices required in the network, thus lowering costs.

Range optimization of the RF modules is:

  • 10m to 250m in buildings
  • Up to 2.5 km in the open field

Wireless transmission of energy data:

  • Integrates circuit board antennas on the heater
  • Includes small chip antennas for cold and hot water meters
  • Offers rod antennas in the central data collector

Radio standards are:

  • IEEE802.15.4
  • Bluetooth (BLE, BT5)
  • GSM (3G, 4G)
  • WLAN

Chipsets include:

  • Microchip
  • Nordic
  • Silicon Labs
